Auckland has
been described as ‘not a city, but a mood swing’. Since the wilful
destruction of its heritage during the 1980’s and 1990’s, the
city has seen the development of tracts of low level housing scored into every
available bit of land.
Paper Sunflower - nothing is permanent.
Cul-de-sac, Symonds St - faceless buildings, high windows,
buried earth, desolation, isolation, apartments - the ‘apart-mentalisation’
of a city. Who do we expect will live in these conditions?
Venus, The Tub - high density urban living, vulnerability,
lost identity.
Shelter - fragments of hope.
