DRESSERGIRLS develops ideas explored in BASELINES.

The dresser mirror does not reflect an image. Instead, its blackness reflects infinity and transparency. Again, the use of a frame within a frame enhances the figurative.
It is often assumed that painting involves layering pigment upon pigment, but in this series reduction was sought to emphasise composition and reveal the elemental ‘underside’ of each composition. The colour palette is reduced, and the application of paint is equally minimal.

There is interplay between positive and negative space. Surfaces are scored to reveal traces of pigment and the variances of texture and relief. There is a striving in this work for subtlety, delicacy, and modesty.
