A series of monoprints
on paper and fabric.
The preservation of ideals.
Cross stitches: marks that women make - symbolic of homemaking, kisses, love,
anger, the word ‘no’ (as opposed to a tick for ‘yes’).
Red thread: lipstick, blood, sacrifice.
Lipstick: a woman’s crayon - blobs of red, resembling blood, faint crosses
ironed onto preserved vintage napkins and handkerchiefs (floating motifs of
emotional exchange).
Glimpses of the remnants of a wedding, souvenirs of a time and journey, shoes
worn once, underwear, bra, clips, clasps and straps - restrictive, supportive,
discarded.
An old doll: girlhood, nurturing, memory, the past, abandonment.
The rose: a bud, youth, partnership in bloom, a singular death.
Cutlery: domestication, function, order, sustenance - a well set table.
Works on paper - stained with fluid in a manner that cannot be controlled,
creating unpredictable backgrounds.
Femme - bridal suite: romance plus time.
